Cincy's Newman set for reunion weekend with Dallas

By By SCHUYLER DIXON

IRVING, Texas (AP) - The enduring image of cornerback Terence Newman's nine seasons as a starter in Dallas was getting hurdled by a fullback in a season-ending loss to the New York Giants that kept the Cowboys out of the playoffs.

His release didn't come until two months after the Cowboys finished 1 of the worst seasons of pass defense in franchise history.

Newman, who was dumped earlier this year to avoid an $8 million salary cap hit, says he "figured it was coming."

Now Newman gets a chance to play the team that drafted him sixth overall in 2003 when Dallas visits Cincinnati on Sunday. He's having a good year with the Bengals after rough last couple of seasons with the Cowboys.
