Erie Girl Scouts made the holidays a little sweeter for local families in need.
Scouts from Wayne and Roosevelt middle schools put on their oven mitts to bake around 200 dozen cookies for the Emmaus Soup Kitchen.
They made the festive treats at Metz Central Kitchen, the food provider for the Erie School District.
Bags of goodies from sugar cookies to cupcakes to pitzels went to the soup kitchen, to share warm holiday joy during these cold months.
"I wanted to help the homeless people have something we have, and help them have a better holiday," said Kaitlyn Rowland of Roosevelt School.
"We have time to do this, so why not do something good with it?" said Diara Magee, also of Roosevelt. The girls were part of Girl Scout's "Leaders in Training for Tomorrow" (LIFT) program.
