REDFCORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - President Barack Obama has arrived at a suburban Detroit auto plant for a visit geared to the economy and his administration's tax standoff with congressional Republicans.
Obama is participating at an event Monday afternoon at the Daimler Detroit Diesel plant in Wayne County's Redford Township.
Gov. Rick Snyder, U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, U.S. Rep. John Dingell and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing were on hand to greet Obama and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood when they landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus.
Obama's visit comes after Republicans in Michigan last week pushed right-to-work legislation through the state House and Senate.
Republican Snyder backs the proposal, while Obama has stated his opposition.
