There are two new faces on the Erie police force.
Just in the past few months, two veteran officers retired.
Monday, two new officers take the oath to protect and serve the citizens of Erie.
Today, Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott swore in Ben Gadsby and Adam Michali.
Both new officers have a military background.
Before accepting his new badge today, Gadsby was a part-time officer with the Albion and Airport police departments.
Michali is an Erie native, and recently graduated from the Mercyhurst Municipal Police Academy.
Both officers say they're anxious to start their new jobs.
"I'm very honored to be able to do this job, to be able to have the opportunity to serve the community." Said Gadsby.
"It's been a long time coming. I graduated the academy about 2 years ago, and I tested for Erie a few months ago. I got the phone call and it's been a story book since then." Said Michali.
"They're both college educated, they both have military backgrounds, one has previous law enforcement experience, so we're gaining quite a bit by hiring these 2 new officers today." Said Chief Franklin.
After orientation, the new officers will hit the streets for training, in just a few weeks.
