Lourdes Falls at #16 Concordia

ANN ARBOR - Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) recorded her third double-double of the season but it was not enough for Lourdes on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves fell on the road to #16 Concordia (Mich.) 91-68 at Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Hampton finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds, grabbing eight boards on the offensive end of the floor.

"Tarynn hit the boards hard today," Lourdes head coach Zareth Gray stated after the game.  "She was aggressive going to the basket and had an all-around solid ball game."

Lourdes trailed 43-31 at the half and the Cardinals pulled away late in the second stanza.

"I wasn't disappointed in the effort today," Gray added.  "We played well together and played hard, especially in the first half.  For about 32 minutes I felt pretty good about things but we didn't play a full 40 minutes and that's when the game got out of hand."

Tiffany Scott (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Sylvania Southview H.S.) came off of the bench to add 11 points, a season-high for the Gray Wolf junior.  Tiffani Blackman (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) and Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) added nine points each for Lourdes.

Lourdes finished the game shooting 31.8% from the floor, but connected on just 23.5% of its attempts over the final 20 minutes.  The Gray Wolves did commit just 16 turnovers though, the second fewest of the season.

"I thought we did a good job of taking care of the basketball even though we were getting pressed all day," Gray added.  "We did some good things today."

Abbey Hengesbach led all scorers with 19 points for Concordia (9-3, 6-0 WHAC) while Hannah Sabol added 17 points and Mara Mulroy chipped in 16 points for the Cardinals.  Concordia shot a sizzling 53.7% from the field for the game.

"They are a smart team," Gray concluded.  "They did a good job of taking smart shots and made a high percentage of them."
