TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's governor announced a proposal to make new money from the Ohio Turnpike.
Republican John Kasich planned several northern Ohio stops Thursday to discuss the 241-mile road and how he'll close a highway funding gap through cost cutting and the sale of bonds.
Gov. Kasich plans include raising $1.5 billion for highway projects with Ohio Turnpike bonds. The plan no longer includes leasing the turnpike. And turnpike tolls will NOT be raised.
The governor wants to see cash from the turnpike used to pay for construction projects around Ohio.
