The Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA) handed out $60,000 in slots revenue this morning, through a program that allows the community to vote for favorites.
The UChoose campaign is modeled after the national Pepsi Refresh Campaign, where voters can use social media to support various programs for various funding levels.
The $60,000 went out in six grants as follows:
$5000
Nurturing Hearts
Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary
$10000
Blended Spirits Ranch
Young People's Chorus of Erie
$15000
ANNA Shelter
Greater Erie Youth Symphony
The ECGRA was formed to dispense monies that by law are collected in counties that have casinos, like Erie County's Presque Isle Downs and Casino. Some of the funds are used for infrastructure around the property like roads and volunteer services, but other dollars are discretionary for regional assets and nonprofits.
