It's a musical masterpiece dating back to 1741, and it always makes an appearance this time of year. That's because of the message it carries. The Mercyhurst University Concert Choir on Sunday performed Handel's "Messiah." The text of English language oratorio by George Frideric Handel, comes from the King James Bible and reflects on Jesus Christ as Messiah, beginning with the prophecy of his coming and following through his incarnation, passion and resurrection.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the work is the Hallelujah Chorus. If you missed Sunday's performance, the choir will perform the oratorio again, Wednesday December 19 at 7:30 PM at St. Mary Chapel on the Mercyhurst North East campus.
