Mailboxes Destroyed in Girard

 A rude awakening for over a dozen people in Girard. Over the weekend, they woke up to find out that their mailboxes have been destroyed. One of those targeted said she's not sure why someone would do this.

Kel Mellin said when she went to get her paper on Sunday morning, when she came out to find her mailbox completely destroyed, smashed up into many pieces.

She called state police, and when they arrived, they told her they've received around fifteen other calls about smashed in mailboxes. Mellin tells us that her main concern now is how she's going to be receiving her mail.

"People should not have to fear their mailbox being smashed," said Mellin. "I mean how am I supposed to get my mail? Its going to be hard for the mail lady because she works, and I work. I just think its very shameful."

 According to published reports, a note was found in one of the mailboxes. Mellin did not have any letter, but we asked her about what she thought of it.

 "That is really a kids thing. I really think its a kids thing. I mean, why would you write a note saying, 'catch me if you can?' They just want to get caught, plain and simple. That's my opinion."        

 Again, around 15 mailboxes across Girard were destroyed. State Police are still investigating.
