Erie City Council on Wednesday is expected to give final approval to a $63 million general fund budget, a plan that does not raise taxes.
Council held two budget review sessions to look over the proposed spending plan. But council did not make any major changes.
The budget is nearly $3 million larger than the current spending plan. A $2 million special pension payment from Harrisburg was a key factor in filling the gap.
But Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott says every year it takes a different strategy to balance the budget.
said, "We've never relied on one time revenues as a mechanism for our budget. We deal with everything each year that comes along. And we take each year individually based on the circumstances that we have that year so we'll continue to do that next year as well."
Sinnott describes the budget as stable, with no new employees and no new programs.
