Erie police Tuesday are investigating a couple of bank robberies, that happened within moments of each other in the afternoon.
The first one happened around 3:18 Tuesday afternoon at the PNC Bank in the 1900 block of East 38th Street. They're looking for a white man, dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask, who held up the bank. Witnesses near the scene say they saw a man fitting that description take off on foot and then get into a car.
Now eight minutes later, at 3:26 PM, police got a call about the First Niagara Bank in the 700 block of East Avenue. Its about 30 blocks away from the first robbery.
In that reported holdup, a Hispanic male, wearing a green goodie and a mohawk hat, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen heading south on East Avenue. Police say there was a gun at this scene.
Right now, they are investigating the possibility that these are related, right now, they cannot confirm that. They are investigating surveillance video and they tell us they are hopeful they can catch these suspects.
We will of course bring you the latest on this developing story as the details do come in.
