Parishioners were promised that they would be back home for Christmas and contractors working on a major renovation at Saint Patrick Church kept that promise.Saturday's 5:00 PM mass was the first to be celebrated in the restored sanctuary. Every pew was filled.
The church had been closed since August for the $1.4 million dollar project. Workers restored marble and golf leaf, completed extensive plaster work and painting and installed new pews, lighting, carpet and air conditioning.
Msgr. Henry Kriegel has overseen other renovation projects but says raising the money for the project was not difficult, because parishioners love Saint Patrick Church. Sunday morning mass is set for 10:30 AM. Christmas Eve services are scheduled at 5:00 and 9:00 PM. Christmas Day mass is set for 10:30 AM.
