Turnpike bans high profile vehicles due to weather

The Ohio Turnpike Commission has placed a Travel Ban in effect from 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 26, 2012, until 7:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012. When a Travel Ban is in effect, certain types of vehicles are prohibited from traveling on the Ohio Turnpike until the ban is lifted. These vehicles include the following:

• All triple-trailer combination commercial vehicles.

• Box-type double-trailer combination commercial vehicles in excess of 90 feet in length.

• Mobile home/Office trailers

• High-profile campers and enclosed trailers.

• Boat and horse trailers towed by a passenger vehicles or pickup trucks.

Not included in the ban are self-propelled motor homes, low-profile trailers, fold-down camper trailers, pickup trucks with slide-on camper units, vehicles towing fifth-wheel type trailers, or any other type of trailers towed by passenger vehicles or pickup trucks. Also excluded from the ban are commercial trucks towing single flatbed or box-type trailers, flatbed double-trailer combinations in excess of 90 feet and any double-trailer combination commercial vehicles less than 90 feet.
