The next few days will be pretty busy for airports across the country, but the winter storm taking over the East Coast is threatening air travel here in Erie.
Many flights were canceled; severe weather in Cleveland and Philadelphia on Wednesday affected travel into and out of our airport.
Of course, that same winter storm is on its way to Erie, but for now, conditions are manageable for maintenance crews.
They were out on the runway Wednesday afternoon trying to stay ahead of the storm, and keep the landing field clear for scheduled flights.
There were a few travelers at the airport who were left hanging after delays from Cleveland's weather, and now flights out of Philadelphia and Detroit are being canceled, too.
Operations Foreman Rick Robie said they've been lucky with the mild winter so far.
"Normally our snowfall total is around 130, 150 inches," he said, "so the last year was a blessing and so far this year has been too, but we can make up for it yet!"
If you're flying in the next couple of days, make sure you check the online airport flight schedule, for the latest delays and cancellations.
