Councilman Ed DiMattio Says He and Beeman's Lawyer "Are Not" Cousins

Erie County Councilman Ed DeMattio on Friday said that he and former County Councilman Ebert Beeman's lawyer, Jeff Del Fuoco, are not related.

On Thursday, Del Fuoco filed a motion asking the court for permission to withdraw as Beeman's attorney, stating a conflict of interest because he and DiMattio are second cousins.

DiMattio told us Friday that he and Del Fuoco are not second cousins, and that any relation between the two is because of a marriage that took place many years ago.

"What I find most upsetting with this is why Mr. Del Fuoco wants to use myself as the his reason for wanting to be removed as Mr. Beeman's counsel," said DiMattio.

DiMattio says that he and Del Fuoco have only met once.
