Oilers Run Past Racers 72-40

FINDLAY - The University of Findlay women's basketball team claimed a 72-40 win over the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 29 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, who improved to 7-3 on the year with the victory, shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) from the floor and held the Racers to a mere 24 percent (12-of-50) shooting clip.  The Oilers also forced 29 turnovers and dominated the paint, out-scoring the Racers by a 46-2 margin around the basket.

Senior forward Kayla Brown led the way with 15 points, four rebounds and four steals while fellow senior forward Tai Dotson contributed nine points and a season-high 11 rebounds.

Freshman forward Margaret Wuekber added nine points while freshman guard Alyssa Grevenkamp had seven points and a career-high seven rebounds.

Junior forward Kaleigh Kenny contributed seven points and senior guard Laura Piehl, making her first appearance on the court in more than a year due to several knee injuries, had five points and three rebounds.

Angie Cates led the Racers with ten points.

The Oilers will travel to University Center, Mich. to face Saginaw Valley State University at 8 p.m. in their next game on Jan. 3.
