Police in Fulton County
are searching for suspects after three horses were stolen Friday night at the
Fulton County Fairgrounds near Wauseon.
Sheriff's deputies say
they don't know who is responsible or why someone would steal the animals.
"We are really
baffled at this time," says Chief Deputy Roy Miller. "There were
three of them, obviously, a trotter and a pacer. We feel they loaded them onto
some sort of trailer and hauled them out of there."
The owners of the horses
sent 13abc a picture of ‘New Moon,' one of the missing horses. They say two
others, ‘Oat Matt Donald' and ‘Shorty B,' were also swiped from the barn.
Authorities say all
three were racing horses and used the track at the fairgrounds to practice.
No one seems to know
what would motivate someone to steal the animals.
"It's winter. Hay
is 9 to 10 bucks a bale, and people are trying to get rid of horses at this
point in time," says Chief Deputy Miller.
According to Miller,
whoever is responsible just opened the stall doors and led the horses away.
