It was a very busy night for Erie firefighters, as New Year's Eve turned into New Year's Day.
Crews battled three fires, that came pretty close together.
One man was seriously burned in the first fire.
It happened just before 11:00 on New Year's Eve, fire broke out in a home at 350 east 25th street.
It started in a rear bedroom on the first floor.
The homeowner, a father was home with two kids and a grandchild.
Fire investigators say the homeowner told them it was a candle on his bed headboard that started the fire.
He was severely burned on his arms and face.
Just a minute later, fire crews were called to 2235 Prospect avenue.
A problem with electrical wiring in an upstairs wall caused extensive damage.
The woman who rents the apartment was home, but not hurt.
She says it could have been worse, and fire officials had to call in 10 extra men on a holiday to help.
The heaviest fire was at a house at 2708 Downing avenue, but the home is vacant and no one got hurt.
This one broke out in the new year at 12:50 a.m.
Fire investigators say they believe it's suspicious, as there was a small fire set there about a month ago as well.
