TOLEDO, Ohio -
The first complete night of 2013 will be a frigid one, with temperatures tumbling to around 9 degrees in Toledo. Light winds, snow cover and a sky with very few clouds will allow energy to quickly radiate away from the ground, into outer space, and our temperatures will drop in response.
This should be our coldest night since January 22nd of 2012, when we fell to 9 degrees. If we only get down to 10 degrees, it will be our coldest since February 11th (when we fell to 10). The coldest so far this winter has been 13 degrees on December 28th.
67 percent of the continental United States now has snow cover!
