The new president of Erie City Council says he will emphasize teamwork and cooperation this year. Council members this morning unanimously elected 3-year council veteran Jim Winarski as president.
He said one of his goals is to speed up planning for the development of the former GAF property on the bayfront. And he pledged to begin working immediately on city finances to try to limit spending and enhance revenue.
Winarski said, "That's our goal, look to see what kind of revenue we can build on to keep us a balanced budget for the following year. If we do our homework, come budget session time, we should be alright."
Winarski takes over as council leader from outgoing president Curtis Jones.
