
Some progress has been reported in efforts to avoid a faculty strike at Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities, including Edinboro University.
Kenn Marshall of Spokesman from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education said the two sides moved closer to an agreement after today's bargaining session. He said more talks are scheduled for next Friday
In November, union faculty members voted to give their negotiators the go-ahead to call a strike if no deal can be worked out. The two sides have been negotiating on and off for about two years.
The key stumbling blocks to a new contract are pay for part-time faculty and health care coverage for retirees.
