The first meeting of the year for Millcreek Supervisors will have the same basic purpose as any before or after it.
"Basically it's let's get to work, it's another day to roll up our sleeves and once against how can we best serve the residents of Millcreek township," said Joseph Kujawa, the new Chairman for 2013.
But the year-long picture shows the supervisors working toward a significant goal; to move Millcreek up on the list of the top 100 places to live.
He said many projects are already in the works, including new parks and a baseball field for handicapped kids.
Kujawa said "Keeping the taxes as low as we possibly can" could bump Millcreek up on the list, too.
One of the chairman's priorities going forward is to work with other municipalities to cut costs, for example sharing supplies and services to build roads.
"Working with them in our roads and being able to help them and also them helping us... we all save money," he said. "What we have to start doing is leaning upon one another so that all of our residents can save."
No matter where Millcreek falls on the list next year, Kujawa and vice chairs Brian McGrath and Rick Figaski are invested in the improvement of the place they call home.
"We're residents too of the same township," said Kujawa, "we love this place and we just want to make it better for the people that we serve."
