New American Legion Post Dedicated

The Girard American Legion, Post 494, has a brand new home.  On Saturday evening, members of the post celebrated the opening of the new facility at 42 Wall street in Girard. PA Senator Sean Wiley was among the elected officials on hand.  He presented a citation from the state, recognizing the post and its commitment to serve veterans in the area.

Building and opening a new post has been a long project.  "We've been working on this for about two and a half years," said Dennis Bensur, "and we were able to raise the funds from the community support."

The Girard Legion built the new home along side the old one.  The former property is now their parking lot.
