NHL Reaches Tentative Agreement

Posted: Updated:

Hockey fans around the country were certainly rejoicing Saturday, since their favorite teams will soon be back on the ice.

The NHL reached a tentative deal in the lockout that's kept fans waiting for the last four months.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and union Executive Director Donald Fehr penned a 10 year deal, after 16 hours of overnight negotiations.

We went to a game of the Erie Lions youth hockey team on Saturday, for reaction. Young fans say they are ready to get back to watching their favorite teams.

"My favorite team is the Penguins... We wanna watch them play and win," said Matt Nichilo of the Erie Lions travel team.

"I wanna learn from some of the NHL skills," said his teammate Marielle Parks.

If the deal is ratified by the players, fans will have a 48 game season to look forward to.
