Erie School Board member Frank Petrungar, Jr. says he will not resign.
Petrungar was the subject of a story in Sunday's Erie Times-News. The paper reported that Petrungar was issued a school district credit card for a September conference he attended in Utah. The story revealed that the credit card was used to make four separate purchases at a Country Fair in Erie and a purchase at K-Mart. The card was also used at a gift shop and a clothing store in Utah.
Petrungar had to be reminded by the district solicitor to make reimbursements of $492. Those were finally made on December 3.
In a statement to 12News, Petrungar said about his actions,
"It's not against district policy. There's nothing illegal in what I did. When I received the bill, I paid it in a very timely manner. That's the end of the story."
The Erie School District has a policy that requires board members to repay the district for personal expenses made with district funds.
