There are changes coming when it comes to parking meters in downtown Erie.
The new rules come after continued abuse of parking meters.
Drivers who continue to park once the meter is expired, will get warning notices on their windows.
We monitored the issue in the summer, and found the same vehicles in basically the same spot every day. Those vehicles would put a handicap placard up, and never get a ticket.
The Parking Authority worked with groups with disabilities to come up with a solution.
The new changes will officially take effect on Thursday. There will be a two week notice period before drivers start getting tickets.
