Massive fire in Central Toledo on Fernwood and Forest

A major clean-up is underway after fire destroyed two Toledo homes and damaged two others. The fire started shortly after 5:00 Wednesday morning on Fernwood Avenue near Forest Avenue.

There's still no word on what may have caused the massive fire. Two houses were burned to the ground. Two others had damage from the sheer intensity of the heat.

Toledo firefighters tell us the homes that were total losses were vacant. At least one of the other homes had someone living inside, but he escaped uninjured.

Investigators are trying to sort out what caused the fire.
