Cases of the flu are spreading quickly in Erie County and one of our new state legislators decided to do something to help. PA 3rd District Representative Ryan Bizzarro set up a clinic to offer flu vaccines in his new legislative offices in the Peninsula Plaza at West12th and Peninsula Drive. He invited "Lifeworks," a local senior citizen organization, in to his office to administer the flu vaccine.
The clinic opened at 10:00 AM and a steady stream of people stepped into the office to take advantage of the shots. They're hoping to avoid becoming part of the flu statistics.
Judy Sicari came in for a vaccine, she said, "Well everybody I know has the flu and I don't want to get it." Robert Peters usually gets a flu shot at work, but since he just retired, he missed it this year. He came in for a vaccine when he heard about the growing flu epidemic. "It seems like there are a lot more (cases) than in the past, usually there's only a few by now, but I guess there's hundreds so it's probably a good idea that everyone get a flu shot."
The flu clinic in Representative Bizzarro's office lasted for three hours. Other pharmacies around Erie County continue to offer flu vaccine as well.
