An evaluation of the Erie County Prison is now complete. For the past three days, the National Institute of Corrections has been meeting with employees at the prison, inmates and speaking with county government officials. This was prompted after a series of incidents with personnel at the county prison.
On Wednesday, they wrapped up their inspections and meetings, and jail management consultant William Lovingier says it's now up to them to decide if the operations at the jail are up to code.
"Its a process of going through the things we hear, the notes we took with all the people," said Lovingier. "There was so many interviews in this process, all of the documentation before has been assembled, we have a briefcase now fill of documents that just bares further scrutiny."
Their report is expected to take two weeks to complete.
