EDINBORO, Pa. – Two Edinboro University music professors performed recently at the United States Navy Band's International Saxophone Symposium on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Dr. Patrick Jones, a Yamaha Performing Artist who also teaches saxophone master classes throughout the region, received a juried invitation after his proposal to premier Edinboro Professor Emeritus Lee Williams' "Suite of Dreams" composition was accepted by the symposium.
Jones, who performed Williams' composition on the alto saxophone, was joined at the symposium by Edinboro's Dr. Kristine West Denton, who accompanied him on the piano.
"It is quite an honor and speaks highly of the caliber of our music faculty to be invited to play at these international events," said Dr. Gary Grant, chair of Edinboro's Music Department. "That Dr. Denton went along to accompany Dr. Jones also demonstrates the wonderful collaboration within our department."
