You will soon be able to support local wineries at Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits stores.
A limited number of wines produced in Pennsylvania will be available at the state-operated stores.
Each winery will be allowed to send in 10 varieties for consideration. About half, or 75, of the state's 150 wineries are eligible to participate. These qualifying wineries are registered as PA Preferred, which is the official brand of agricultural products grown or made in the state.
State liquor control board members hope the move will encourage people to buy local and support farmers. The Pennsylvania Wine Association reports the state's 150 wineries contribute more than $2 billion to the economy.
The program is set to begin early this summer.
