Another hotel will soon open in fast-growing Summit Township. Crews are now using heavy equipment to clear the site along Oliver Road, near the Family First complex.
Actual construction of the Home-2-Hilton will start soon. It is expected to open by the end of this year, adding 77 suites to hundreds of existing hotel rooms in the township.
Summit Township Supervisor Nancy Agostine said, "The industry dictates the need. And from what I have always been told, the more hotels you have somewhere, it becomes a destination or stopover, because people know they have a lot of choices. When they get off at this exit they would have numerous selections for hotels. And the market seems to be good, or developers would not be making the investment."
Summit Township expects to issue a building permit in a week or so, allowing the actual construction to get underway.
