Selena King announced her candidacy for Erie City Council in 2014.
Former State Representative Kathy Dahlkemper introduced King, who described her vision for the city Saturday at the Maritime Museum.
The Sharon native came here for college in 1998, and has called it home ever since.
She addressed the crowd, sharing her goal of bringing pride back to the city and helping it live up to its full potential.
"I noticed that there was a decline in the sense of pride in the community that was so electrifying when I first came," said King. She hopes to "promote the things that are unique to Erie."
King will run in the next primaries.
