#8 Roughnecks Go 2-1 at National Duals on Saturda

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - The University of Findlay wrestling team, ranked eighth in the nation, went 2-1 during the first day of competition at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Cliff Keen National Duals in Springfield, Ill.  The Roughnecks came away with an 18-13 win over #9 Minnesota State-Mankato and also defeated #19 Fort Hayes State by a score of 26-13.  Their lone loss came at the hands of #17 Wisconsin-Parkside by a 26-13 margin as the event wrapped up the opening day on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Adam Walters, the top-ranked wrestler in the nation at 184, led the Roughnecks by going 3-0 on Saturday. 

Walters earned a 3-2 win over Mankato's Aaron Norgren, who is ranked fifth and claimed a 5-2 win over #7 Matt Gille of Wisconsin-Parkside to highlight his victories.

Ben Sergent, the sixth-ranked wrestler in the 125-pound weight class, went 3-0 as well while Andrew Tumlin, who is ranked seventh at 285, finished with a 2-1 record.

Sergent came away with a 5-4 win over Mankato's David Demo, who is ranked third nationally in the weight class, and Joey White and Nick Goebel helped the Roughnecks on day one by registering 2-1 records.
