The final numbers are in, and the total raised in the local Salvation Army kettle campaign was down from 2011. The campaign ended up raised just over $168,000. The goal was $190,000.
But the situation in Erie was far from unique. Overall the Salvation Army in western Pennsylvania fell short of it's goal by $270,000. The money raised helps support the agency's programs all year long.
The local drive was way behind it's goal until the final few days before Christmas when donations picked up dramatically.
