The lead investigator into Erie's 2003 collar bomb case is pleased that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal by convicted collar bomber Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong. The high court did not comment on it's refusal to hear the appeal.
It's her last direct appeal. She is now serving life plus 30 years for the bizarre crime that attracted worldwide attention.
The lead investigator, former FBI Agent Gerald Clark, has written a book about the case. He thinks the decision by the high court vindicates the work of the investigative team in the high profile case.
Clark said, "I tell you it is a good feeling to know the case you worked really hard on and the prosecution team we put together did such a fantastic job. I think we took really extreme efforts to make sure we did everything in the correct fashion. I think the Supreme Court vindicated that today."
Now while Diehl-Armstrong has now exhausted her direct appeals. there is still an indirect Habeus Corpus appeal pending.
