Gun Owners Plan Townhall Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Gun advocates in the Erie area say the push for new gun control legislation after the Sandy Hook school tragedy is scaring them.  They consider it an attack against gun ownership when they believe the real focus should be on criminals or on those who knowingly provide firearms to people who should not have them.

Local gun owners plan a townhall forum to discuss the issue with our representatives in Congress.  One of the organizers, Doug Boldt said, "I realize there's a division on this issue, with people on both sides contacting congressmen G. T. Thompson and Kelly's offices. Instead of tying up their phones and e-mails, we just want to provide a safe and respectable forum for people to come out and speak their minds to our congressmen."

Both 3rd District Representative Mike Kelly, and 5th District Representative Glen (G. T.) Thompson have agreed to attend the forum.  The townhall meeting on guns is scheduled for January 30, at 6:00 PM at Bob's gun shop on Edinboro Road in McKean.
