The smell of homemade food in Mercyhurst's student union caught the attention of everyone walking by.
It was the annual "Taste or Waist" fair; a unique taste test put on by the Sports Medicine Department.
Students from a nutrition class prepared two versions of dishes: one healthy, and one unhealthy.
You could taste both, and then vote on which one tasted better, and which one you thought was healthier.
The fair is supposed to show that healthy, doesn't have to be bland.
"It's so people know that they can make healthier choices with it still tasting the same, and not lacking in flavor," said Junior Erin Nee. She and her classmate Kiersten Jungling made two versions of cheesecake for testers to try.
"We learned it's not hard to make something healthy that is really tasty, so it was kind of exciting to see that," said Jungling.
Other samples up for comparison included taco dip, jambalaya, and buffalo chicken dip. Many healthy versions were made by simply substituting low fat products, like light sour cream and cream cheese.
Money raised from the event was donated to the United Way.
