An Erie county prison inmate is facing even more charges, after police say he set fire inside his jail cell.
Detectives say Carlos Joel Diane-Cruz set fire to his cell in the prison on January 7th
They found evidence that indicates Diane-Cruz smeared something on the window of his cell to keep corrections officers from seeing in.
Then, police say he started the fire using an electrical socket, paper and a towel.
Officers noticed flames coming from the bottom of his cell door.
Inmates had to be evacuated from the prison while the flames were put out.
Diane-Cruz is facing several charges including arson and recklessly endangering another person.
