U.S. Senator Pat Toomey was in Erie today, talking with leaders from local colleges and universities. He held the roundtable discussion at Gannon University.
Toomey wanted to know about the big problems and challenges they are facing. The school leaders told him they need more help and support from the federal government to maintain and expand programs, keep costs down, and stay active in the community.
Gannon President Dr. Keith Taylor said, "We need for the government to continue to support aid and loan programs for our students. We need to ensure regulatory control is what it needs to be but also allows us to continue to grow and be innovative."
The meeting was held behind closed doors, and lasted about 90 minutes.
