
People for Life's 35th annual pro-life breakfast will be held Saturday January 19 at the Bayfront Convention Center. The doors will open at 8:00 AM, the program will begin at 9:00 AM.
The keynote speaker this year is best-selling author, George Weigel. The title of his remarks,
"Pro-life challenges and opportunities in the years just ahead." Weigel is a Distinguished Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC.
People for Life's annual bus trip to the Washington, DC March for Life is scheduled Thursday, January 24 at 11:00 PM. Buses will depart from the St. George Church parking lot. Organizers say the national march usually takes place on January 22, the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision but is delayed to Friday, January 25 this year because of the presidential inauguration. More information is available at www.peopleforlife.org/january2013.
The local pro-choice community plans a news conference Friday, January 20 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 7180 New Perry Highway. Representatives from the NWPA American Civil Liberties Union, The League of Women Voters and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Social Responsibility Committee say they plan to reaffirm their support for the Roe v. Wade decision and address current challenges in women's access to reproductive health care in Pennsylvania.
