Former Millcreek Police Chief Dever Dies

Former Millcreek Police Chief Merill "Bud" Dever is dead. He died at UPMC-Hamot. He was 83 years old.

 Dever spent nearly 30 years with the Millcreek Police Department. He was chief for several years in the 1980's. And later served as security chief for Mercyhurst College.

 In Millcreek he was known for being tough, but a good boss and leader.

 Chief Tom Carlotti said, "As a chief, if you messed up, you were going to hear about it. But he was fair, strict but fair. Just an all around good individual."

 Calling hours for Dever are Sunday from 1-4pm and 6-8pm at the Burton Westlake funeral home at West 26th and Powell Avenue. The funeral is Monday at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church.
