Red Wings Recall Goaltender

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings announced that goaltender Thomas McCollum has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.  McCollum has appeared in 17 games for Grand Rapids this season, posting a 10-6-1 record with a 2.69 goals against average, .899 save percentage and one shutout.  McCollum kicked aside all 20 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over the Chicago Wolves on Dec. 7, 2012, to register his lone shutout of the season.

In order to make room for McCollum on the 23-man roster, the Red Wings have placed forward Jan Mursak on injured reserve.  Mursak suffered a shoulder injury during the first period of last night's 6-0 season opening loss to the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center.  The 5-11, 190 lb. right wing from Maribor, Slovenia, is expected to miss a minimum of two weeks, but will be re-examined by team officials later this week when the Red Wings return to Detroit.  The Red Wings are currently on a two-game road trip to start the 2012-13 campaign and are scheduled to face-off against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Nationwide Arena (Fox Sports Detroit, NBC Sports Network and 97.1 The Ticket).

Detroit's 2012-13 home opener is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, Jan. 22, when Jaromir Jagr and the Dallas Stars pay a visit to Hockeytown for a 7:30 p.m. showdown at The Joe.
