SCHOOL DELAYS

A number of Northwest Ohio schools have already delayed the start of classes for Tuesday morning in anticipation of bitterly cold temperatures and a brisk wind that'll make it feel well below zero.

I-75 ACCIDENT

(AP) - Authorities say as many as 50 vehicles could be involved in a pileup on Interstate 75 in southwest Ohio. A dispatcher at the State Highway Patrol says the pileup occurred in the southbound lanes, between Middletown and Monroe. She says if there are injuries, none are serious.

OHIO TEACHER RETIREMENTS

(AP) - Education leaders across the state are expecting a wave of teacher retirements in the coming months. The Columbus Dispatch reports that changes in retirement rules will give teachers across the state a strong incentive to retire by July 1st.

MASS KILLING

(AP) - According to a court document, a New Mexico teen accused of killing his mother, father, two sisters and a brother told police he had been having homicidal and suicidal thoughts. A statement says Nehemiah Griego told a detective he used a rifle.

GLOBAL UNEMPLOYMENT WORRIES

(AP) - The U.N. labor agency warns that the lingering effects of the global economic crisis mean unemployment will continue to rise - even though world economies are expected to improve. The International Labor Organization estimates the net number of unemployed people rose by 4 million in 2012 to some 197 million overall. It is expected to rise by 5.1 million in 2013, and by another 3 million in 2014.

CHURCH PERSONNEL FILES

(AP) - Newly released church personnel files show retired Cardinal Roger Mahony and other top Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles officials maneuvered behind the scenes to shield molester priests.
