Attorney Clifford Mattice, a member in the firm’s Phoenix office, recently published a chapter on zoning litigation for the book, "Inside the Minds: Representing Municipalities in Litigation."

The book provides an authoritative, insider’s perspective on best practices for counseling municipal clients through a myriad of litigation matters. The book features experienced municipal lawyers, including Mr. Mattice, who guide the reader through the issues and challenges faced by attorneys working with their government clients. Mr. Mattice’s chapter titled “Delivering the Knockout Punch in Zoning Litigation” focuses equally on litigation prevention and effective defense once a lawsuit is filed. Mr. Mattice reviews Arizona legislation to frame the concepts that guides government service today and explore options that can help clients balance the delivery of services in the face of growing scrutiny and litigation.

Mr. Mattice’s practice covers all aspects of municipal law, zoning, land use, open meeting law, public records and government entitlements. He has extensive experience with municipal zoning and subdivision regulations, development agreements and communication with elected and appointed officials in the development entitlement process. Mr. Mattice is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Municipal Lawyers Association, and the Maricopa County Bar Association. He received his B.A. from the University of Redlands and his J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law.
