As we first reported, Millcreek School District Superintendent, Michael Golde is off the job. The official explanation from the Millcreek School District, according to district spokeswoman Erika Howland, is that "the superintendent has taken administrative leave for personal reasons."
Superintendent Golde, who has been at the helm of the Millcreek school district since January of 2009, officially started that administrative leave last Friday, January 18, according to district solicitor, Attorney Tim Sennett. Sennett too gave the official explanation, "Superintendent Golde is on administrative leave for personal reasons, a leave agreed to by the board."
Sennett said the full board has not taken formal action on the leave. When asked if Assistant Superintendent, William Hall, will take over as "acting superintendent," Sennett declined to comment on what he called a personnel matter saying, "You'll just have to wait."
In his four years on the job, Superintendent Golde has received a lot of attention as he promoted a big ticket plan to consolidate the high school and intermediate school, move the football field and tear down Mcdowell High School.
School board President, Terry Scutella also said he could not talk about Golde's administrative leave. As to whether the $93 million dollar consolidation plan will move forward in his absence, Scutella said, "That project has always been under review to determine can we cut here, cut there?" The district has not secured a second bond issue to go forward with the plans, nor put the project out to bid.
School board personnel, finance and operations committees met Tuesday evening. School officials offered no additional comments.
