As we first reported Sunday, a suspect arrested over the weekend on drug charges will face bank robbery charges as well.
Millcreek police officials confirm that Martin Mitchell, 29 will be charged Wednesday with the January 11 hold up at the First National Bank on West 8th Street. That's the case where the alleged robber told the teller he had a bomb, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police delayed a decision on filing charges, until detectives interviewed the suspect a second time today at the Erie County Prison.
Meantime, we've learned that the arrest of Mitchell may solve another bank robbery as well. Erie Police, who first picked up Mitchell Saturday at the Knight's Inn, have charged him with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property in connection with a holdup January 19 at the Marquette Savings Bank branch at 38th and Stanton Street. District Judge Paul Urbaniak set bail at $50,000.
