Millcreek Police Department fire investigators are looking for answers in the rubble of a dental and medical office destroyed in a four alarm fire Sunday morning.
As we reported, the fire started at Lake Erie Dental at 4944 Peach Street, the office of Dentist Dr. Kevin Sambuchino and the medical office of Psychiatrist, Dr. Richard Spector.
John Hanke, Kearsarge Fire Chief in charge at the fire scene, said he believed a surge from a large pine tree falling on power lines and snapping a utility pole may have sparked the fire. Embers from that fire spread in windy conditions, damaging the Station Dinner Theater and a nearby home and garage as well.
Millcreek detectives working to pinpoint the cause on Tuesday, were hampered by heavy snow inside the shell of the dental-medical building. They plan to return to the scene later this week. Insurance investigators are expected to visit the scene on Thursday. Both the dental and medical practice plan to see patients at alternate locations.
