Crews for Erie Water Works working late into the night, trying to locate a huge water leak, that's causing many people to have low pressure, and some people to have no water at all.
Crews have been able to narrow down their search. They know it is located somewhere in the East Booster Service Area Territory, which is south of 38th Street until East Gore Road, in between Hannon Road and Cherry Street.
Paul Vojtek, CEO of Erie Water Works, said they discovered there was a problem around 8:30 AM Wednesday. They decided to pump water from the Cherry Street plant to keep customers with at least some sort of water pressure. Its estimated that at least a couple million gallons of water is has been lost because of the leak.
Vojtek says the weather has definitely played factor is locating the leak.
"When you have problems like this, and its not coming to the surface, it really makes it pretty difficult," said Vojtek. "We're looking at maybe stream crossings, maybe its going into a culvert or maybe a storm drain somewhere."
The water leak also caused a problems for the Belle Valley Fire Department. Due to the low pressure, they said they put surrounding stations with water trucks on stand by in case there was an emergency.
