"And we need a new coffee maker, ours broke last night," said cold patron of the St. Paul Community Center.

St. Paul's needs a new coffee maker.

But, in order to keep making coffee for the nearly 50 people who rely on the warmth of the Winter Crisis Program they'll need more money.

Leslie Applier is the supervisor of the program that offers a warm bed and meal for people in Toledo who have no place to go on frigid nights.

"We used to only open when temperatures were below 25 degrees, but we've been open every night since January 17," Applier said.

The center opens at 7 p.m. and closes at 7:45 a.m. They only have enough money to remain open until February 17.

"We need $12,000 in order to stay open until March 1," Applier said.

Applier said there are three full-time employees who work in shifts during the 12 hours the crisis center is open, but they always need volunteers. 

"We need money, but we also need men's jackets, gloves and hats," she said. "We mostly have adult males stay with us." 

Applier added that the Winter Crisis Program is unable to take in families and children.
